Tayvion Robinson named one of ESPN's Instant-Impact Newcomers
Kentucky’s offense soared to new heights in Liam Coen’s first year in Lexington. Even though Wan’Dale Robinson and Josh Ali are departing, the Cats are reloading the wide receiver room via recruiting and the transfer portal. One incoming player could be especially effective. Virginia Tech transfer Tayvion Robinson made ESPN’s list of “instant-impact newcomers” for the 2022 season. As Tom VanHaaren writes, Robinson can be a plug-and-play player like the other Robinson.
Wan’Dale Robinson transferred in to Kentucky from Nebraska and led the team in receiving yards with 1,334 yards and also had seven touchdowns. Robinson is leaving for the NFL, so the staff needs to replace that production. Tayvion led Virginia Tech with 592 receiving yards in 2020 and added three touchdowns. He was second in receiving yards in 2021 with 559 yards, but led the Hokies in touchdowns with five.

The wide receiving room will include a lot of new faces, but Robinson will be surrounded by experience. Kentucky returns quarterback Will Levis, running back Chris Rodriguez, and a very talented group of tight ends including Keaton Upshaw. The future is bright.
