Tayvion Robinson Latest Kentucky Wildcat in Senior Showcase
For all but two teams, the college football season is over. That’s not the case for upperclassmen. Tayvion Robinson is among the growing number of departing Kentucky Wildcats that will play in a postgrad senior showcase ahead of the NFL Draft.
The Hula Bowl announced Tuesday morning that Robinson will participate in the game later this month. Started in Hawaii, the event moved to the mainland to grow attendance both in players and scouts from the NFL, UFL and CFL. The game will be played at UCF’s FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando on Saturday, January 18.
Tayvion Robinson kicked off his career at Virginia Tech. The Virginia Beach native was a three-year starter that led the Hokies in receptions in back-to-back seasons, and also flashed playmaking ability as an all-conference punt returner. The production did not immediately follow at Kentucky.
Wan’Dale Robinson‘s successor at slot receiver was exceptional against Group of Five talent, exceeding 100+ yards in two of his first four games. Once SEC play began, he was featured less and less in Rich Scangarello’s offense until he was sidelined for the final two games of the season. Despite falling out of favor with the team, there was a mea culpa that turned into production in 2023. He caught 41 passes for 552 yards and four touchdowns during his super senior season.
Robinson is not the only former Cat participating in the Hula Bowl. Former Kentucky right tackle Jeremy Flax had to miss the Gator Bowl but will participate in the senior showcase.
