Team USA Basketball Olympic Rosters Finalized with Two Wildcats
Team USA will feature two of John Calipari’s former pupils next month at the Tokyo Olympics. They may not be the only former Kentucky basketball players competing in this summer’s games.
USA Basketball unveiled its roster for the 2021 Summer Olympics, finalizing the 12-man team that will feature Devin Booker and Bam Adebayo. It’s the first time either Wildcat has been selected to an Olympic squad, but they could become the fourth and fifth to receive gold medals since 2008. Tayshaun Prince, Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins won gold in the last three Olympic Games.

There are a few other former Kentucky stars hoping to go to the games under a different flag. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander opted out for injury concerns, but Trey Lyles and Mychal Mulder each have a shot at playing for Team Canada. Isaac Humphries is also trying to gain some international acclaim on the Australian national team. There are still some cuts to be made and qualifiers to be won, so neither are completely locked into a trip to Tokyo just yet.
Six weeks from now Devin Booker could have a NBA Finals trophy and an Olympic gold medal added to his collection. You love to see it.
