Ten years ago today, on a Tuesday night in Knoxville, Jodie Meeks cemented himself in Kentucky Basketball history with a 54 point outburst in a 90-72 blowout win over Tennessee. Meeks was 15/22 from the field and an unbelievable 10/15 from beyond the arc. This goes without mentioning going a perfect 14/14 from the charity stripe, pulling down 8 rebounds and dishing out 4 assists. I remember listening to Tom Leach's call on the radio on the edge of my seat with how hot Meeks was. This performance will go down as the best single game performance in Kentucky Basketball history and is what some call the one shining moment of the Billy Gillespie era. Going into the game, Tennessee had a 16 game SEC home winning streak, but that was quickly put to bed behind the amazing performance from Meeks. At the start of SportsCenter that night, Scott Van Pelt said that usually they lead with LeBron, Kobe or Wade, but that night it was all for the former Cat. Here is their feature right after that game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAUJlAHClGc Or if you're more into seeing all of his shots in less than a minute with Tom Leach's calls, you can see that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GY2dfOhZ3rM We may never see a performance quite like this again. It is crazy to think it has been ten years.
