Kentucky traded early blows with the Volunteers, until a red zone mistake put the Wildcats behind the proverbial 8-ball. Kentucky will get the ball first to start the second half, but trails 27-6 at the intermission.
The Wildcats had a couple of three-and-outs, yet were still threatening to score late in the first half. A third down pass to Dane Key was jarred loose by a big hit and the ball bounced right into the hands of a Tennessee defender. Kentucky left the red zone scoreless, a recipe for disaster against the high-powered Tennessee offense.
