Teonni Key brings consistency on both ends of the floor
Kentucky went on a big 18-0 run to put No. 19 Illinois down for good, and Teonni Key played a large part in that run. The North Carolina transfer has come up big all season long, not just on Wednesday night. Before the season begun, however, I said that Key was the biggest question regarding this team, but to my surprise, she has arguably been the most consistent player on the floor thus far.
Against the Fighting Illini, Key put up 12 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in 30 minutes of play. That type of a stat line — a double-double with a few blocks mixed in — has been what she’s produced all year long.
To break the numbers down a bit, Key has recorded double-digit points in every game but one, 9+ rebounds in every game but one and multiple blocks in every game but one. She also has four double-doubles in four of the last five games.

Consistency is key — or in this case, Key is consistency?
Regardless, she’ll have a chance to showcase her productivity yet again next time out against No. 16 North Carolina, where she transferred in from. If the former Tar Heel can keep it up against her old squad, then Kentucky has a very good chance of moving to 8-0 and potentially into the Top 10 of the AP Poll (assuming they just barely miss the Top 10 this week).
