'I want to get a ring.' Teonni Key wants to have a big senior year for Kentucky WBB

Teonni Key had a big junior season at Kentucky, but it’s time for her to elevate her game even more. In the first hour of the KSR radio show on Tuesday, Key talked about her first year in Lexington.
“It was surreal,” Key said. “It was huge just because what we were able to accomplish was such a quick turnaround — knowing each other for less than a year, it was a super special year for us. I think it was a great foundation for what’s going to keep building here at Kentucky.”
It was an especially rewarding year for her personally too. In her first two years of college ball at North Carolina, she had to fight through injury and never really got going. However, this year was certainly a refreshing change of pace for the former Top 10 recruit.
“It was obviously the best year yet,” Key added. “I think especially off the court too, everything was just great. Just being able to be given the opportunity to get out there and just showcase my abilities and be with the coaching staff and help everyone on the team.”

Of course, now Key and the team have to look toward next season. Kenny Brooks has already told Key what he wants to see of her in her senior season.
“We had that conversation the day after our last game,” the 6-foot-4 forward noted. “Basically, it was just focusing on sharpening everything that — yeah, there was a growth this year, it was a good season, but there’s so much more that we need to work on. So much more that needs to get better. Just focusing on sharpening the all-around skill set on the court, and then just strength purposes, putting on a little pounds.”
Her main goal to wrap up her collegiate career? To go win.
“I want to get a ring. Whether it be SEC, national title, both,” Key said. “That’s definitely the goal.”
