Terry Touchdown is going to be a Lobo. Pete Thamel is reporting that former Kentucky quarterback Terry Wilson is finalizing a transfer to New Mexico, where he will be eligible immediately with one season remaining thanks to the NCAA’s blanket waiver. Wilson entered the transfer portal in January after three seasons at Kentucky.

“I want to start by saying thank you to the coaching staff at Kentucky for the opportunities I have been given for the past three years. I also want to thank my teammates,” Wilson wrote on his Instagram page. “I have made relationships and memories here that will last a lifetime.

“With that being said, I have decided to enter the transfer portal for my last season of eligibility. Thank you, Kentucky. It’s been a good ride.”

Wilson leaves Lexington with a 17-8 record, including wins at Florida, at Tennessee, and at Louisville. The Oklahoma City, OK native is just the second quarterback in UK history to beat the Gators and Volunteers on the road, joining Derrick Ramsey. He led the Wildcats to two New Year’s bowl wins, with the first coming in 2019 against Penn State in the Citrus Bowl, and the second coming this year against NC State in the 2021 Gator Bowl. He also led UK to its first 10-win season since 1977 in 2018.

Go get ’em, Terry.

UPDATE: New Mexico makes it official with a press release.

“Terry Wilson will bring immediate experience to our quarterback room,” said head coach Danny Gonzales.  “He is a three-year starter in the SEC and won 68 percent of his games there.  He is a true dual-threat quarterback who should fit very well into what we are trying to do offensively.  He was a two-time captain at Kentucky and he earned his degree as well, so he will bring a level of maturity and leadership to our team.”
