The Bill Belichick, Jordon Hudson Story is the 2025 Summer Blockbuster

Let me take you back to a simpler place. It’s hot outside. For only $5, you can cool down and watch Will Smith beat up some bad guys and get the pretty girl. It doesn’t matter the year, just pick one in the mid-90s and you’re guaranteed to get two+ hours of summer fun at the cinema.
Unfortunately, Marvel killed the summer blockbuster by monopolizing the movie industry into one superhero movie after another. Instead, we must rely on another captivating story, Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson.
You can call it a Summer Blockbuster, the Song of the Summer, or the Jelly of the Month Club because Belichick and Hudson are the gift that keeps on giving.
When North Carolina began courting Bill Belichick, it felt improbable. That feeling changed to surreal when Bubba Cunningham put on a sleeveless blazer at the introductory press conference. Bill Belichick, the greatest coach in NFL history, is writing one final chapter of his legendary career in the college ranks.
It was going to be the biggest story of the college football offseason, no matter what. Little did we know that it would be his 20-something girlfriend who created all of the headlines.
The Latest Weird Hudson News
Jordon Hudson’s attire on the red carpet at the NFL Honors was eye-opening. It provided some fodder for folks who were stunned to see the couple with a nearly 50-year age gap. There were a few more moments, like Belichick’s Instagram posts on the beach, but there wasn’t much substance to any of it.
The CBS Sunday Morning interview opened the dam and Clark Griswold doesn’t have enough chewing gum to plug that hole (two Vacation references in less than 250 words? Let’s go for three!)
We are on about a once-a-week pace of jaw-dropping news from the Hudson-Belichick relationship. Less than a week after Hudson interrupted Tony Dokoupil during the Sunday morning puff-piece, Pablo Torre did an hour-long exposé on his podcast that revealed she had been banned from the North Carolina football facility. The fallout from that wasn’t even the wildest story shared. That was from a commercial shoot she crashed while wearing a bikini, and it’s not the first time she’s inserted herself into an ad.

Today, the New York Times has flexed its reporting muscles to confirm something that was long-suspected. Hard Knocks passed on taking its show to the college ranks because Hudson wanted creative control. Like every other piece of investigative work, that’s just the top billing on this report. There’s more to dig into for days and weeks to come.
This is Comfort Food
What makes a summer blockbuster great? It’s mindless entertainment. Good looking actors dodging explosions is escapism at its finest.
As our state learned last weekend, you don’t have to look hard to find bad news. The sports world is typically an easy escape, but I can’t even write about college football without a law degree. The House settlement that was supposed to be wrapped up weeks ago still hasn’t been finalized. Now conferences are trying to strong-arm schools into signing binding agreements to a new organization, all while state legislatures are crafting laws to protect their schools.
Trying to understand it all isn’t fun. You know what is fun? Thinking about all of the outlets that are swarming to confirm that Jordon Hudson is telling people she is engaged to Bill Belichick.
Are they actually engaged? Is she just making this up? It’s all fascinating escapism that makes for a great summer blockbuster, one that isn’t going away anytime soon.
