Mark Stoops Says Kentucky Will Get Back To Running The Ball

Will Levis has one of the most exclusive jobs in America. Kids dream of becoming the starting quarterback for one of 32 teams in the NFL. Once a person reaches that peak, it’s easy to understand why most people might take a moment to enjoy it. Will Levis is not most people.

During the offseason, Levis did what most professional athletes do and enjoyed a vacation to an exotic overseas locale. Instead of spending his entire time tasting wine in Tuscany, Levis was working out.

In a conversation with Pete Prisco of CBS Sports, the former Kentucky quarterback revealed that he may have taken things a little too far, leading to a run-in with the Italian authorities.

“We were 45 minutes from Siena, which is kind of the big city, so I went to a gym there and I thought it was Gold’s gym, but it turns out it was Gold Gym,” Levis said. “First gym I ever saw that opened at 10 a.m. I had to wait until 10 a.m to go there every day. I was doing stuff in there that nobody in there has probably ever seen, just in terms of the football stuff we do. It was funny.

“There were a couple soccer fields I scouted out beforehand. One of those I had to jump the fence to go on. I had the cops called on me. I got out of there before anything crazy happened.”

Levis had to use a translator app to explain why he needed to pull a breaking and entering in the foreign country. The cops clearly did not understand or care that he was an NFL quarterback, but he was left off the hook.

It will probably not surprise you that this was not the only vacation Levis took this offseason that included a heavy work schedule. In between OTAs and the start of training camp, the quarterback organized a trip to Cabo with his Titans teammates. The venue had a football field for morning workouts, followed by afternoons on the golf course.

“We got great work in. Will set it up and it was amazing,” said newly acquired wide receiver Calvin Ridley. “They had a field for us, took us golfing, had lunch set up. It was beautiful, amazing.”

Entering his second season in the NFL, Levis used that opportunity to bond with his teammates and show that he can lead the Tennessee organization.

“That was a cool trip,” said Levis. “It’s not just fun stuff like that, it’s throughout camp. How can I help guys and reach out in any way possible and just be available to help them improve and help some guys make the team? I’m here as a resource. They know that. I’m going to continue to do my best to show them I can be that for them.”
