The Golden State Warriors waive Kevin Knox II
NBA teams are trimming down their rosters in preparation for the upcoming season and former Kentucky forward, Kevin Knox II, is one of the latest on the chopping block. The Golden State Warriors waived Knox after giving him a tryout in both the Summer League and the preseason.
Knox performed well in Las Vegas in July, averaging 17.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in his four Summer League games. However, the man who prefers a surname suffix of II instead of Jr. played in just two (or perhaps he prefers II) preseason games for the Warriors and averaged three points and two II rebounds in 7.4 minutes per contest.
The former Kentucky sharpshooting big man is now a free agent, but it is hard to see another NBA team pick up the journeyman at his point. Knox has bounced around to four different teams (including two stints with the Pistons) over his six-year career, and although he is just 25 years old, he may need to ensure his passport is up to date.
Despite never truly flourishing to the potential the Knicks saw in him when they drafted the Kentucky freshman with the 9th overall pick in 2018, there always was a team ready with a contract thinking his time was right around the corner. Unfortunately, that potential never truly materialized, and those opportunities appear to have dried up.

It is difficult to predict if Knox will stick around in the G League or if he will seek opportunities overseas, but his immediate NBA career is at an end for the moment.
At least Big Blue Nation will always cherish his performance against West Virginia on the road when he led his team back from double digits in Morgantown to get the win. Those were the days.
