The Great Chubby Cox
When I was growing up, there was this guy in my home town named Dick Tamer. Now stop, I know you have already begun laughing just at the name, but to me the name never struck me as funny. I mean Dick Tamer was a funny guy, and the fact that his name was Dick…Tamer….just never seemed odd. Well that was until I went to college and someone informed me that the name Dick Tamer was funny….and then it hit me. That name was funny….and a bit salty.
This may be the same problem that fans of the old Philadephia Kings had with the great Chubby Cox. They saw that his name was Chubby….noticed he wasnt chubby….and then never realized that he also had an absurd full name. Because of this worry, the good folks at Flumesday.com have come out with the list of the 10 Most Unintentionally Funny Names in Sports. It is a great list…I mean where else are you going to find a list containing Dick Trickle, Ileyna Slutskyaya and Belarus freestyle skier Assol Slivets at the same time. Nowhere I say. Now if they only had room on the list for Dickie Lyons…..
