The Kentucky Horse Park will no longer have white fences

It's a bit of a slow news day, so forgive me for digressing from UK sports news for a minute. Nothing makes me feel more at home than driving into Lexington from the Bluegrass Parkway and seeing the iconic white fences at Calumet. The fences are as part of the region as bluegrass, bourbon, and basketball. So, when I heard that the white fences at the Kentucky Horse Park were getting a paint job, I was honestly a little bummed. The park is painting the fences black because apparently the white fence paint costs about three times as much as the black fence paint and requires painting twice as often. They expect to save $50,000 by making the change. I'm all about saving some money, but that will take some getting used to. [LEX18]
