The Kroger Field Atmosphere Kicked Ass for Kentucky vs. Georgia
Man, Big Blue Nation brought it. You’ve been great so many times before, but you really outdid yourself this time. Well done, Kentucky football fans. Well done.
There were plenty of people who doubted Kentucky football fans. After all, the poor South Carolina performance was disgusting. People rushed online to share, “I’m done with this team!” They were done watching this team and were prepared to sell their tickets. The vibes were low, but you couldn’t tell that before kickoff.
The tailgate was popping on a beautiful, sunny day. Students started lining up to get into the game more than two hours before kickoff. It was just after 5 pm when I saw the line wrapping around gate 1 and extending almost halfway down the stadium toward Nicholasville Road. The energy was amped up to welcome the No. 1 team in the country.
Stoops Salutes Big Blue Nation
“The fans, I’ve got to give a shout out to them because obviously we were not proud of the effort a week ago and they showed up again and had a very positive effect on this game and we greatly appreciate your support,” Mark Stoops said Saturday night.
Kentucky fans received towels to honor Tim Couch’s enshrinement into the College Football Hall of Fame. Those things were whipping on third downs and it worked. Georgia only converted 5 of 13 third down attempts. The fans also got pretty rowdy when Masai Russell showed off her gold medal and when Tim Couch was introduced to the Kroger Field crowd.

The Fourth Quarter Light Show Rocks
For the first time this season, we got to experience the upgrades the university made to improve the atmosphere at Kroger Field. Kentucky led the No. 1 team in the country entering the fourth quarter, setting the stage for a 2-minute spectacle.
The hype video is filled with your favorite Kentucky football moments and is accompanied by the Freebird guitar solo. That’s a freaking cheat code. It rocks so hard. The lights are flashing all around the stands, ribbon boards are popping, fireworks are blowing up — it’s sensory overload at its finest. Here’s the thing too, the videos don’t do it justice. You have to be at Kroger Field to experience this show to its fullest effect.
Great job, UK. You put on a great show for the fans. There was only one thing missing from the magical night, a win.
