The Latest From "Who Wants To Be A UK Power Forward"

by:Dustin Rumbaugh05/12/10
"Sir, it's Cal on the phone. He'd like to know if you have any NCAA eligibility left?" I talked to a few people last night in order to shed some light on what UK's latest targets might be thinking. Here's this weeks edition of Who Wants To Be A UK Power Forward (Copyright Thomas Beisner All rights reserved):

Kadeem Jack: The situation with Kadeem Jack starts with who offers. It looks like UK and UNC are the only major players here and it is believed that whoever offers is likely going to win out. Neither offers...probably prep school unless another big timer joins the fold. What is interesting though is that I was told if both were to offer, UK would hold the slight advantage over UNC. Good news for UK's forward future.

- Terrence Jones: If it weren't Terrence Jones, I probably wouldn't write anything here. But since you can't say UK/Power forward without getting a TJ question, I felt it was a must. Things are remaining status quo. Despite all the, what I call, "talk to fill the emptiness," I still believe he's just not yet ready to make his decision. OregonLive.com did a piece saying he may wait until after the May 19th signing deadline, which shouldn't really shock anyone. If I told you to sit back and relax before, this time I really mean it.

- Eloy Vargas: Vargas is back in the fold fully with UK. Don't get me wrong, the connection was constant since his flirtation with UK last year but now it seems to be nearing a boil again. Jerry Meyer wrote that he believes Vargas may end up back in the SEC, which means UK, and with UK's power forward situation it would certainly make sense. The recent cooling between Vargas and Arizona also makes this prediction highly likely. This situation mirrors Jack's in that the most important thing to watch right now is whether an offer is extended.

- Visits: Over the next couple weeks you can expect UK to rival Panama City Beach in terms of tourism. Jack and Vargas are certainly going to see campus, hopefully well before the signing deadline in order to give them time to make their decisions. Of course the other power forward options are also likely visitors as well. So guys, over the next two weeks, do UK a favor and have the little lady prance around Lex-Vegas in one of those sundresses the town has become pretty famous for during the spring/summer. Your local basketball coach will thank you.
