The annual unofficial start to the college football season is back in 2021.

Each year SEC Media Days kicks off college football’s talking season. Canceled by the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, the event will return to its Hoover roots in late July.

The league office unveiled the schedule Wednesday afternoon in a news release. Mark Stoops is on the slate for day two of the event on July 20, sharing the podium with Georgia’s Kirby Smart, Tennessee’s Josh Heupel and Ole Miss’ Lane Kiffin. An event built for the crowd-pleasing Kiffin, he should have plenty to say after triumphant return was postponed in 2020.

It will be Mark Stoops’ eighth SEC Media Days, trailing only Nick Saban as the second-longest tenured head coach in the conference. If the event sticks with tradition, Stoops will be accompanied by three Wildcats. I’d be willing to bet that Josh Paschal, Chris Rodriguez and Wan’Dale Robinson are Kentucky’s player representatives.

At the same time last year we didn’t even know what the 2020 football schedule would look like. That was not announced till almost a month later in mid-August. It will feel oh so good to be back in the chilly Wynfrey Hotel Ballroom next to the lamp that trips every other bystander. We’re Back!
