'This year has been so amazing.' Dazia Lawrence is thankful for her time at Kentucky

Dazia Lawrence had a remarkable five-year collegiate career in which she was a two-time all-conference player at Charlotte, and at Kentucky, helped lay the foundation for the future years of the Kenny Brooks era while putting up much-needed production.
The 5-foot-8 guard averaged 12.9 points per game on 39% shooting from three-point range. Additionally, a lot of those threes came in the clutch as she kept Kentucky in several games that it probably shouldn’t have been in.
Lawrence could have capped off her college career playing for the 49ers, and no one would have batted an eye. However, she took a chance on Brooks and the program because she wanted to win. Considering that Kentucky won 23 games, 11 SEC games and an NCAA Tournament game, it’s fair to say that Lawrence’s wish was granted.
“That’s why I came here. I knew that I wanted to win and go far in the tournament, and I knew that coming here we was going to make the tournament,” Lawrence said following the Kansas State game. “This year has been so amazing. I was telling my teammates that this year I’ve had so much fun. It was the most fun I’ve ever had in my years playing college basketball.”

“Just how we were strangers months ago, you should have seen our first practice putting in the offense, it was horrible,” she added. “Now, coming back to see what we’ve grown into in just a short amount of time, and like Georgia [Amoore] said, the locker room, how we get along, how we’re always there for each other, it’s been so much fun.”
Her time in Lexington may feel short-lived in hindsight, but it’ll be one that she remembers for the rest of her life.
“I would never take this year for granted,” Lawrence said. “I would never take playing with Georgia Amoore or being coached by Coach Brooks for granted. This year has been so fun, and it’s something that I will always cherish, so yeah.”
