Three-star SF Jordan Burks pushes commitment date to Monday
The Big Blue Nation was hoping for some good news on Wednesday, but any potential celebration will have to wait until next week.
Three-star class of 2023 small forward Jordan Burks was expected to make his college decision during Wednesday’s live edition of the Paper Route podcast with I Am Athlete. However, it was announced at the beginning of the live stream that Burks would not make his decision during the show and will instead wait to make his announcement on Monday, June 12.
Burks would eventually come on the podcast and noted that his “dream school” growing up was Kentucky. “That’s all you seen when you turned the TV on, at my age,” Burks said. “So it was like, I want to play for (John) Calipari. I want to be a blue blood.”
Burks is coming off an official visit to UK earlier in the week.
Kentucky has been trending as the favorite to land Burks for a couple of weeks now, but this new development will surely raise some eyebrows. All reports were pointing toward a commitment on Wednesday. That being said, the expectation is that Burks will still ultimately land with the Wildcats despite the delay.

On the court, Burks is a skinny wing prospect but one with impressive length who can score in bunches from anywhere on the floor. A former Ole Miss commit, he is considered the No. 172 overall prospect from the ’23 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
“He’s a competitor, he’s tough,” Hillcrest Prep head coach Nick Weaver told Jacob Polcacheck of KSR+. “He’s a prolific scorer. He can score from all three levels. He proved that pretty well last year. Anytime you need a bucket, he’s a guy that can get you a bucket.”
We’ll find out next week if he ends up in Lexington or not.
