Today on KSR: One day closer to football

Good morning, friends. Meet Rocky the Bulldog, today’s KSR Dog of the Day. Ready for both basketball and football season, Rocky always wears Kentucky blue and will surely put a smile on your face this morning.

He’s even got his own Instagram account. Rocky, you are a star. I know it’s not as good as a bully stick, but here’s some UK sports news as a reward.

ICYMI, a top ten prospect listed Kentucky in his top five

Greg Brown, a five-star forward from Austin, Texas, included Kentucky in his top five last night, along with Auburn, Memphis, North Carolina, and Texas. According to Andrew Slater, Kentucky offered Brown, the top power forward in the 2020 class, after the Peach Jam. This summer, he averaged 17.5 points (off 64% from the field), 8.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game for the Texas Titans in the EYBL.

Sadly, no football practice report today…

…but you will get another installment of Adam Luckett’s positional preview series AND a new episode of 11 Personnel. I’m sure Roush and Luckett will discuss yesterday’s news that wideout Isaiah Epps will be out six weeks with a foot injury, along with the big takeaways from Media Day and the open practice at Fan Day.

Until then, enjoy Eddie Gran’s remarks after practice yesterday:

You can see interviews with wide receivers Allen Dailey, Bryce Oliver, and Josh Ali on the KSR YouTube page.

USA Basketball Training Camp continues in Vegas

Bam Adebayo and De’Aaron Fox are taking part in this year’s training camp, which will determine the roster for the FIBA World Cup in China beginning August 31. Several big name players backed out of the camp, making it possible for Bam and Fox to get the invite and possibly showcase their talents on an international stage. I’ll have more on how they’re doing so far a little later.

ESPN2 is ESPN The Ocho today

Every year, ESPN turns one of its channels into ESPN8, aka The Ocho, to highlight quirky sports from around the world. The fun started on ESPN2 last night at midnight with Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, the movie that inspired the whole thing. Here’s the schedule for the rest of the day:

Which Kentucky Basketball table you sitting at?

Last night I shared the KSR version of “Which table you sitting at.” The official Kentucky Basketball account also put one out with former players:

Table one is sure to bring the laughs, but Willie and Karl at table six is hard to pass up. Honorable mention to Fox, Bam, and Monk at table eight.
