Good morning, folks. By now I’m sure you’ve had your fill of Kentucky/Tennessee talk, so we’ll leave that alone in this fine morning post. Here’s some other stuff to occupy your mind on this lovely Sunday.

It’s Super Bowl Sunday!

In a very appealing matchup, the reigning champion Kansas City Chiefs take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV today at 6:30 p.m. We’ll get to watch the best QB of all time in Tom Brady square off with perhaps the only man who could eventually come close to challenging that title in Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs are 3.5 point favorites, but the Bucs are the first team to ever play in a Super Bowl in their home stadium. Hopefully, you’ll find a fun and safe way to enjoy the big day. I hear KSBar got’s some good stuff planned, including some big game specials and a fun challenge. Come check us out, starting at 5 p.m.!

The Puppy Bowl

Two of America’s favorite things unite in another installment of a fun tradition: the Puppy Bowl. If you want to start the Super Bowl festivities early, don’t miss it at 2 p.m. on Animal Planet. Pups of all different breeds will unite in pursuit of the coveted Lombarky Trophy, and the event’s hosted by Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg.

Here’s a preview of the game to get you fired up. I like Chunky Monkey’s style of play… some excessive slumber doesn’t sound too bad right now.

The NFL was busy last night

The NFL handed out its annual awards last night and inducted several new members into the Hall of Fame. Here’s a complete list of who took home hardware and who is heading to Canton:

  • MVP: Aaron Rodgers, Packers QB
  • Offensive Player of the Year: Derrick Henry, Titans RB (at least Drew Franklin could smile about something last night)
  • Defensive Player of the Year: Aaron Donald, Rams DT
  • Offensive Rookie of the Year: Justin Herbert, Chargers QB
  • Defensive Rookie of the Year: Chase Young, Washington Football Team DE
  • Coach of the Year: Kevin Stefanski, Browns HC
  • Comeback Player of the Year: Alex Smith, Washington Football Team QB
  • Walter Payton Man of the Year Award: Russell Wilson, Seahawks QB

2021 Hall of Fame inductees

Reed Sheppard continues to ball out

The sophomore sensation from North Laurel posted a career-high 54 points in a big win over Corbin on Friday evening.

The son of UK great Jeff Sheppard is turning heads, and many are hoping he follows in his father’s footsteps by donning the blue and white in a couple of years.

Trevor Bauer signs massive deal with Dodgers

The 2020 Cy Young winner is headed out west on a 3-year, $102 million contract. Bauer was the most exciting thing about the Reds last season, and it’s a bummer to see him go. It was clear early on in free agency that he would be too expensive for Cincinnati, and his decision ultimately came down to the Mets and Dodgers.

After giving all kinds of hints that he’d be packing his bags for the Big Apple, the Cali-boy decided to head home.

From a lifelong Reds fan, thanks for bringing some fun to Cincinnati last season, Trevor!

Enjoy your Super Bowl Sunday, BBN! See you at KSBar tonight!
