Good Morning Big Blue Nation. In less than ideal conditions the Kentucky Football team took care of business against UT Martin, securing bowl eligibility for the fourth straight season. The Cats dominated both sides of the ball racking up 462 yards on the ground, while the defense recorded a season-high six sacks on the way to a 50-7 victory.

 Run the Football

The Kentucky offense did not have much work to do early as they were spotted nine points after two UT Martin turnovers resulted in a safety, and a touchdown. AJ Rose took an inside zone 67 yards to the end zone, and the game never felt in doubt. Rose finished the game with 105 yards on 6 carries while Lynn Bowden Jr. gained 129 yards on 11 carries for two touchdowns. Chris Rodriguez Jr., Kavosiey Smoke, Travis Tisdale, and Tyler Markray all ran well in a dominant  performance by the Kentucky offensive line. It was not all sunshine as the Kentucky offense completed just 2 of 11 passes for a total of 17 yards. Bowden could not connect on several deep attempts, but the rainy conditions likely played a role in that.

Defensive Improvement

From start to finish, UT Martin could not find success offensively as Calvin Taylor, TJ Carter, and Joshua Paschal lived in the backfield. Taylor and Paschal finished with 1.5 sacks each. The Skyhawks finished with just 204 total yards with most of them coming in garbage time. A full team performance from a defense that is steadily improving is a good sign moving forward. Defensive Coordinator Brad White has done an outstanding job with a young group. For a more in depth breakdown of the game, check out Adam's Instant Takeaways.

Sunday Night Basketball

The Kentucky Basketball team returns to Rupp Arena as they host the Lamar Cardinals at 6 PM. With the full roster back healthy, the Cats must continue to improve while developing chemistry on both sides of the court. The Lamar Cardinals are 4-1 on the year including a victory against Kentucky's most recent opponent Mount St. Mary's who Lamar beat by a score of 76-61. Our own Brandon Ramsey will have a full preview for the game later on this afternoon. Enjoy your Sunday, folks!
