Todd Gurley out the rest of the season?
The story surrounding Todd Gurley’s alleged NCAA violations just got a little more serious. A source told the Atlanta Journal Constitution that there is a “significant” case of the sale of memorabilia that could result in Gurley being out the entire season, not just the two or three games as originally thought.
Late last night, SB Nation posted an email from an autograph broker who has photos and video of Gurley doing a private autograph signing; however, the video does not show money changing hands. ESPN is reporting that Gurley was seeking between $8 to $25 per signature, and autograph authentication company James Spencer Authentication has authenticated at least 500 pieces of memorabilia with Gurley’s signature on them, ranging from jerseys to mini-helmets to cleats.
Without dipping back into the pay the players debate, Gurley being out the entire season bodes well for the Cats’ chances in the SEC East.
