The former Wake Forest star is still searching for a new home. Woods accepted a scholarship to Louisville last fall, but like most Cardinal commitments, he has reopened his recruitment and Kentucky is on that list. Woods was in Lexington last week for an unofficial visit to UK, although, it wasn't a typical recruiting visit. Instead of only meeting with Coach Cal and his staff, Tony Woods also met with Mitch Barnhart and President Todd. The 6-foot-11 center is out to make a good impression and defend his tainted reputation. We all know what he can do on the court, but if he wants to rejuvenate his college basketball career, he'll have to prove to everyone that he's not the same person that was arrested for assault on his girlfriend last Labor Day weekend. We joked about Woods signing with Louisville back in October, because that's what we do. But now that Kentucky is a possibility, we really need to look at the kid's character. He's been working at UPS in Louisville while living with his uncle to pay his own bills and college tuition at Jefferson Technical and Community College. He's basically doing all the right things to get his life back in order, but it was a very serious offense that put him in the hole he's in now. At this point, (as far as we know) Tony Woods isn't even close to signing with Kentucky. There's no reason we should put too much thought into it now. It was just an unofficial visit and he's still taking a visit to Texas and I'd assume many other schools. But if the interest between Woods and UK heats up, it's something we're really going to have to think about. The last thing we need - and by we, I mean Coach Cal - is some off the court issues to fire up the national media about Cal's style of recruiting. What do you think?
