The Kentucky football program ended the live period with a bang. Commitments are piling up and this is one of the biggest yet. Four-star talent Cedric Works announced his commitment to Kentucky.

Works was part of a star-studded recruiting weekend for the Wildcats that spawned a wave of commitments. The Dayton, OH native pulled the trigger and committed to Kentucky after spending his summer officially visiting Florida, Penn State, and Cincinnati.

Works is a Top 10 player from the state of Ohio and one of the best EDGE prospects in America. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound athlete is the No. 19 EDGE and No. 142 overall player, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.

Works is one of the highest-ranked commitments of Kentucky’s 2025 recruiting class which now includes more than a handful of four-star talents. Vince Marrow has been cleaning up on the trail, locking in the top four commitments all before the July Fourth announcement season.

The Big Dog has always done well in the state of Ohio and Top 10 players from the state have a track record of producing in Lexington. Lynn Bowden, Darian Kinnard, Chris Oats, and Alex Afari all contributed as true freshmen and this fall Brian Robinson and Terhyon Nichols are in a position to do the same.

Works is among that elite class of players who is poised to be a playmaker at the next level. For many high school athletes at his position, pass rushing is what pops on tape. Works has that in his bag, but what’s even more impressive is his ability to drop back and play in coverage at his size. That’s one of the most difficult skills for EDGEs to learn once they get to college. Not only does he already have an understanding of the concepts, but he also has great ball skills.

Last fall he tallied 82 tackles, 10 TFLs, and 6.5 sacks for Northmont. He also picked off a couple of passes and used his long arms to bat down balls at the line of scrimmage. Works is an exceptional talent with a nose for the ball who will be making plays at Kentucky for years to come.
