Top-Ranked Talent Javeon Campbell Commits to Kentucky
The 2025 Kentucky football recruiting class just keeps getting better and better. The Wildcats’ successful recruiting run continued on Tuesday when Javeon Campbell announced he is playing for his home state school.
A product of Frankfort’s Western Hills High School, the home of Wan’Dale Robinson, Campbell made a meteoric late rise through the recruiting ranks. A talented high school hoopster — he holds the school record for total points scored in a career — Campbell only recently picked up the sport of football.
Unheard of a year ago, the biggest brands in all of college football marveled at his size and athleticism. Notre Dame, Georgia, Michigan, and Ohio State issued early scholarship offers. Miami, Auburn, and Alabama all put on the full-court press to secure a commitment from Campbell. After taking official visits to those prestigious programs, his decision was clear.
Campbell turned down offers from the top programs in the country to play for Kentucky. He’s the top-ranked player in the state of Kentucky, a Top 20 defensive lineman, and the No. 167 overall prospect, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

It’s another significant recruiting win for Vince Marrow, who’s primarily responsible for the three other Top 200 players in Kentucky’s 2025 recruiting class: S Martels Carter, RB Marquise Davis, and EDGE Cedric Works. The Wildcats are up to 15 commits, including the top two players from the state of Kentucky. Three more could join their ranks later this week.
Standing 6 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing over 260 pounds, Campbell is a Grown Ass Man. Similar to Brian Robinson and Josh Paschal, he plays on the EDGE quite a bit in high school, but will likely add even more size to develop into a true hand-in-the-dirt defensive lineman. During his 8-game 2023 campaign, he tallied 14.5 sacks for Western Hills.
Even though he’s new to the game of football, he plays with great pad level and is explosive off the line of scrimmage. Campbell physically overwhelms most of his smaller opponents now. Those tools must be refined at the next level where he is bringing so much potential to Brad White’s defense. Campbell is a high-ceiling prospect with a bright future.
