Top talent from class of 2021 will be on display this weekend at the Iverson Classic
The future of Kentucky Basketball is set to be in action this weekend and KSR will be there to keep you updated.
On Friday and Saturday, the Iverson Classic will tip-off down in Memphis, TN with loaded rosters on both sides. A pair of Kentucky commitments, Daimion Collins and Bryce Hopkins, are slated to team up for Team Honor, coached by Rasheed Wallace and Bonzi Wells, and will be joined by recent UK decommit Nolan Hickman. On the other side of the court for Team Loyalty, coached by Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes, is a major Kentucky target, 5-star point guard TyTy Washington, who will announce his college decision on May 15.
Those aren’t the only premier players set to grace the court, though. Chet Holmgren, the class of 2021’s top overall player, will participate as well as fellow 5-stars such as Paolo Banchero, Peyton Watson, Hunter Sallis, Kennedy Chandler, Michael Foster, AJ Griffin, and plenty more. The Iverson Classic has also added South Carolina Women’s Basketball commit, Raven Johnson, the first-ever female high schooler to integrate a boy’s All-American game.

The event will feature two primary attractions, the first coming on Friday, May 7 which includes a dunk contest, 3-on-3, and a special 24K Showcase (basically a game of “21” but with a target score of 24 in order to honor the late Kobe Bryant). The second and main event is on Saturday, May 8: the Iverson Classic All-American game. The entirety of Friday and Saturday’s events should be available (for a price) through livestream at the link here.

Practices and scrimmages for the event actually started earlier on Thursday and Kentucky’s signees apparently made a good first impression on ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, who liked what he saw from both Collins and Hopkins.
Loved what I saw from Kentucky bound Daimion Collins. Looked lost in the drills, but came alive in a major way when the scrimmage started with some great blocks, putbacks and finishes. Moves exceptionally well. Clearly one of the prospects with the highest ceilings in this class. https://t.co/hrJ8sbbE8m

Kentucky-commit Bryce Hopkins had a great day. First time seeing him; just a good all-around basketball player. Did some really interesting things defensively, made a bunch of shots, and is a really smart and unselfish passer. Exactly what Kentucky needs at that position. https://t.co/hrJ8sbbE8m

Stay tuned for KSR’s coverage of the event throughout the weekend.
