'The town wasn't big enough for the both of us.' Kenny Brooks jokes about John Calipari at SEC Media Day
SEC Media Day kicked off on Tuesday as all 16 men’s basketball coaches in the conference took time at the podium to preview their respective team’s seasons, and that continued today with the women’s basketball side of SEC. Kenny Brooks took the podium around noon on Wednesday, and in typical Kenny Brooks fashion, he impressed.
When he first arrived at Kentucky, John Calipari was still at the helm of the men’s basketball team, but just 12 days after he was hired, Calipari jumped ship to Arkansas.
Brooks was asked about the connection between him and current head coach Mark Pope, but first, he had to throw a little jab at Calipari.

“When I got to Kentucky, [John] Calipari was there,” Brooks joked. “The town wasn’t big enough for the both of us. So, I ran him out.”
We already knew Kenny Brooks had some swagger just based off his Big Blue Madness entrance alone, but he took that to another level when he took a fun shot at Calipari at SEC Media Day.
