Travis Perry went 100-100 on free throws in 3 straight practices
The legend of Summer Practice Travis Perry continues to grow…
Remember a couple of weeks ago when Andrew Carr said that Perry hit 59 corner three-pointers in a row during a practice? Well, on Wednesday, a social media post claimed that Perry went a perfect 100-100 from the free throw line during another practice session while also making 90 percent of his three-pointers the same day.
So of course, it was a hot topic when he got in front of the cameras on Thursday.
The freshman from Lyon County was asked during his first media opportunity as a Kentucky Wildcat if that actually happened or not. To the delight of the Big Blue Nation, he confirmed that was the case, clarifying that he actually went 100-100 from the free throw line during three consecutive days of practice.
“It’s pretty accurate,” Perry, who said he saw the post making its rounds, answered with a grin. “I would say it’s accurate, yeah. That was a solid number. We had to hit 100 free throws and 100 threes. I had three days in a row I got 100-100 free throws.”
You might be wondering: how many of those free throws hit the rim?
“Not many, not many,” Perry added. “Got pretty hot those days.”
Seemingly every one of his teammates has had something positive to say about Perry’s work ethic or his insane shooting abilities during these summer interviews. Transfers Kerr Kriisa (West Virginia) and Amari Williams (Drexel) also praised Perry on Thursday and what he’s brought to the team through the first several weeks of practice.

“Travis is phenomenal,” Kriisa said. “I’ve had some pretty good shooters around me but he’s definitely up there. And he works hard man, he really does. He’s in the gym. Yesterday I think he went four times. We get our massage, next thing you know he shoots again after the massage. He’s in the gym and the results are showing.”
“I’ve seen a lot of great shooters in my four years of college,” Williams said. “But we were doing a shooting test this week and Travis is going back-to-back days making 100 out of 100 free throws. Just doing that and seeing how many threes he makes, it’s crazy.”
Perry was an elite marksman during his high school days at Lyon County (you don’t luck your way into scoring more points than any high schooler in the history of the state) and that has carried over into his first college offseason. At this rate, it might just get the 6-foot-1 guard some early playing time for new head coach Mark Pope.
