It was a bittersweet night inside Rupp Arena. On one end, Kentucky picked up a big win in the regular season home finale, a 93-77 finish vs. Vanderbilt that saw the Cats control the game to close out the first half and the entirety of the second. On the other, the crowd had to say goodbye to the seniors in their last on-court appearance in Lexington.
The two top veteran contributors, Tre Mitchell and Antonio Reeves, snagged the microphone to close out the win before fans hit the exits. The message? A thank you to Big Blue Nation for supporting their respective careers as Wildcats over the last year or two.
“We just want to thank y’all for being the best supporters in all of college basketball,” Mitchell told the fans. “You all show us the most love, regardless of where we’re at. We’ve got the best home crowd, the best home-crowd advantage and we appreciate all of your support. Go Cats.”
“You guys want Antonio to say something?” the fifth-year forward added, leading to another roar from the audience.

“I appreciate you all for coming out, man,” Reeves responded. “Y’all have been supporting me each of these last two years and I appreciate y’all for everything you did. Man. Go Cats.”
As expected, it led to one final pop inside Rupp Arena before the players meet Big Blue Nation again in Nashville at the SEC Tournament and beyond.
Two key contributors that have helped put this program in position to make a run this March.
And they couldn’t leave without one last goodbye.
