West Virginia forward Tre Mitchell is officially available, entering the portal as a grad transfer.

KSR can confirm the Pittsburgh native is in the transfer portal, opening the door for direct contact and visit discussions with interested schools. Among them? You guessed it, the University of Kentucky.

The Wildcats have already reached out and are in the process of scheduling a visit to Lexington, multiple sources tell KSR. And assuming all goes well, as expected, a commitment could be imminent.

Travis Branham of 247Sports reports the visit to Kentucky will take place this weekend.

The fifth-year senior has deep ties to Calipari and the Kentucky staff as a Pittsburgh native and former UMass standout. Multiple sources tell KSR that Kentucky is at the top of the 6-foot-9 forward’s priority list and the interest is mutual, a clear plug-and-play fit for a program looking to round out its roster with experience and frontcourt depth.

Mitchell averaged 11.7 points on 47.0% shooting, 36.4% from three and 78.9% at the line for West Virginia this past season while adding 5.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists per contest. He’s averaging 13.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game over the course of his career, starting his career at UMass (2019-21) before transferring to Texas in 2021-22.
