Trent Noah is a Kentucky Football Legacy Addition
Trent Noah is Kentucky through and through.
A star for Harlan County, Noah led the Black Bears to the 2024 Sweet 16 title game. He nearly set a record for most points scored in one state tournament and finished his career as one of the five best scorers in the history of Kentucky high school basketball. On Thursday he announced he will be joining Mark Pope’s Kentucky basketball program, continuing a legacy of Kentucky Wildcats in his family.
In the official announcement from UK, many learned for the first time that his grandfather played football for the Wildcats. Charles ‘Perky’ Bryant suited up for the Wildcats from 1961-63.
Bryant was a member of the “Thin Thirty.” Charlie Bradshaw succeeded legendary coach Blanton Collier and brought a heavy hand to Lexington. His tactics were described as “brutal,” which is why the roster dwindled from 88 players to only 30 by the time the season started. A book was written about a season unlike any other. The Thiny Thirty managed to go just 3-5-2, but it culminated with a 12-10 win over rival Tennessee in Knoxville.
A product of Evarts High, according to Oscar Combs Perky Bryant was a punishing fullback during his three years of varsity football. His most productive season was during that infamous 1962 campaign where he carried the ball 108 times for 326 yards.
