Tru Edwards will not play for Kentucky after signing with Los Angeles Rams

One of Kentucky’s biggest recruiting wins during the winter transfer portal window will not play games in Kroger Field this fall. With his eligibility waiver unlikely to get cleared by the NCAA, Tru Edwards has decided to give professional football a shot.
The Louisiana Tech transfer signed with the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday night following the end of the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay. The former junior college player with play in the NFC West instead of the SEC once the football season begins.
Tru Edwards was awaiting clearance from the NCAA for the Diego Pavia injunction that will give former junior college players an extra year of eligibility in 2025. KSR had learned that the working expectation at the Joe Craft Football Training Facility was that the Edwards would not play for the Wildcats in 2025.
The Mansfield (Texas) Legacy product was a class of 2019 prospect who started his career at junior college before moving to Hawaii and ultimately landing Louisiana Tech. Tru Edwars earned first-team All-CUSA honors in 2024 after recording 77 receptions for 897 yards and six touchdowns.

Kentucky add J.J. Hester (Oklahoma), Kendrick Law (Alabama), and Troy Stellato (Clemson) to the wide receiver room in the winter. Hardley Gilmore IV (Nebraska) re-joined the team in the spring. The Wildcats are currently searching for some more help at wide receiver. Tony Johnson (Cincinnati) and Isaiah Spencer (Jackson State) emerged as transfer portal targets this week.
