Tulane transfer Kam Williams has officially signed with Kentucky

The ink on the paper has dried — Kam Williams is a Kentucky Wildcat.
On3’s Pete Nakos reported Wednesday afternoon that Williams has officially signed with UK. This news came less than an hour after Nakos reported Alabama transfer forward Mouhamed Dioubate had also signed with the ‘Cats. Williams, who spent his freshman season at Tulane, entered his name into the portal on March 25 and was committed to UK a few days later on March 28.
In his lone season with the Green Wave, Williams averaged 9.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.4 steals, 1.3 assists, and 1.1 blocks in 32.4 minutes per outing. Starting in 28 of his 33 games played, the 6-foot-8 guard shot 48.5 percent from the field, 41.2 percent (on 4.6 attempts per contest) from deep, and 76 percent from the free throw line.
Williams is one of four incoming transfers currently committed to Mark Pope and the Wildcats. Along with Dioubate, Pope has also landed Jayden Quiantance (Arizona State) and Jaland Lowe (Pitt). On3 ranks Williams as the 50th-best prospect to go into the portal this offseason.
With real NBA potential as a 3-and-D threat, plus three more years of college eligibility, Williams expects to fill in as a versatile two-way weapon for multiple seasons in Lexington.

“He played a huge role,” Williams told KSR+ about Pope’s importance in his recruitment. “I asked him about the system they run and how they’d use me in that system. We gathered multiple data points, and I liked it. He’s a great coach. Look how far he went in his first year here. He had limited time, so just imagine what he can do now. It could be something special. I wanted to be a part of that.”
