The Kentucky baseball team is receiving a little shine before postseason play begins in Hoover. Two Wildcats earned All-SEC honors on Monday from the league’s coaches.

Émilien Pitre was named Second Team All-SEC. Pitre was joined by fellow infielder Hunter Gilliam on the SEC All-Defensive Team.

Pitre, a sophomore from Quebec, Canada, cleaned up for the Kentucky baseball team in 2023. The second basemen started in every game and hit .344 from the plate, tallying more walks than strikeouts. He ranked second on the team in runs (50), hits (65), and tied for the team lead with 15 doubles. He also totaled 46 RBIs and 18 stolen bases. The sensational sophomore earned a spot on the All-Defensive Team by committing only five errors all season, and just two in SEC play.

Hunter Gilliam also played a pivotal role in helping Kentucky lead the nation in fielding percentage. The grad transfer from Farmville, Virginia made just one error in 224 opportunities during SEC play. Gilliam finished the year with a .993 fielding percentage, propelling the Kentucky baseball team to a 36-17 record (16-14 in SEC play). It was the best regular season for the Wildcats since 2017.
