Two Kentucky Transfer Portal Targets Commit Elsewhere
There is A LOT happening today in the transfer portal. Commitments are popping off left and right. Kentucky has added three players, and even announced the signing of QB Zach Calzada, but they aren’t winning every single battle.
The Wildcats have picked up commitments from three offensive linemen. One of the first offensive tackles on Kentucky’s radar was Derek Simmons. The Western Carolina product climbed up the ranks from the D-II leavel all the way up to the SEC. He just didn’t land at Kentucky.
On Thursday afternoon, Simmons shared that he will be an Oklahoma Sooner. The Cats look pretty solid at multiple positions on the offensive line, but Eric Wolford still needs a left tackle. There’s a good chance that future left tackle still hasn’t put his name in the transfer portal.
Wake Forest wide receiver Horatio Fields is a true outside, X-receiver. He spoke with KSR+ after officially visiting Lexington last week. “I like what the SEC has to offer,” he said.

He is ready to play in the SEC, just not at Kentucky. Fields committed to Auburn on Thursday. On the one hand, it feels a little odd. He could have been the No. 1 outside wide receiver at Kentucky. Cam Coleman is getting all of those reps at Auburn. However, Auburn is a bigger brand with a former five-star QB, Jackson Arnold, signed up to play under center for an offensive-minded head coach.
Kentucky picked up a commitment from J.J. Hester and the Wildcats are trending for former Alabama slot receiver Kendrick Law, but they still could use another big body on the outside. Former Ball State WR Justin Bowick is a potential option. Illinois and Penn State are Kentucky’s top competition.
