Tyler Guilfoil receives Second-Team All-American nod
While the BBN has to endure another season without playoff baseball in Lexington, you can at least find some solace with a Wildcat receiving postseason honors — especially when he’s a Lexington native.
Tyler Guilfoil was named a Second-Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball to top off one of the more impressive seasons from a relief pitcher the ‘Cats have seen in a while.
Guilfoil rewarded for exceptional season
The Lafayette High School product did everything and more after transferring from Lipscomb this past season. The righty posted a 1.59 ERA over 51 innings of work this season, striking out 80 while allowing just 17 walks.
His numbers only got better when SEC play started, putting up a 1.34 ERA in conference play in 2022. Now with this and a First-Team All-SEC selection to boast, Guilfoil heads into the summer as draft-eligible. The junior’s time in his hometown may be ending soon, but at least we got to see one of our own post one of the best seasons in Kentucky Baseball history.
