Tyler Hansbrough is selling Kentucky. "100 percent."
Not even a full week removed from his tweet alleging John Wall got paid to attend the University of Kentucky, Tyler Hansbrough is maintaining his villain status with Big Blue Nation by selling Kentucky as a tournament team this season.
“I’m selling Kentucky, 100 percent,” Hansbrough said Tuesday night as a guest on The Field of 68. “They have no shooters; they’re scrambling to find a lineup that works; Cal’s done an awful job coaching this year.”
Hansbrough’s opinion came moments after the Wildcats’ secured their fourth straight win in SEC play, in which Kentucky shot 37.5 percent from outside, extending its lead on the rest of the conference in that category. The “have-no-shooters” Kentucky team is currently first in the SEC in 3-point shooting percentage with a top-10 percentage nationally among Power 5 teams.
But go off, Psycho T:
Hansbrough continued, “Obviously, they’re going to different lineups; they’re trying everything. To me, I think there’s such a big hole in their shooting and also their depth; they don’t have a lot of depth on this team. But their shooting has been a struggle all year, so if they don’t have the shooting that opens up the lane for Tshiebwe, then I don’t think he’s going to be able to have the year that we all expected him to have.
“Now, Tshiebwe is a great player and he’s getting a lot of things done; he’s going to pull some wins out for them. But I don’t think they have the depth or the shooting to make a deep run or to even get a resume at this point to make the tournament if they do go on another cold streak and lose some games. The SEC is tough. You can lose every game in the SEC. To me, this weekend is going to be a good indicator because Kansas is coming to town.”

Hansbrough also questioned why it took John Calipari so long to find a lineup that works, a fair critique at this stage of the season. Many of us in Big Blue Nation wonder the same thing, but nobody outside of Tyler Hansbrough is giving up on Kentucky’s spot in the tournament with nine regular season games still to be played.
Tyler Hansbrough… too big time for young John Wall?
Now the second time we’ve mentioned the former college basketball star in a week, Hansbrough first re-emerged on the radar after John Wall’s story about meeting Hansbrough (or, not meeting Hansbrough) during a recruiting visit to North Carolina in 2008. On a recent “Run Your Race” podcast episode, Wall said he grew up a fan of the Tar Heels, but eliminated UNC from consideration after Hansbrough, then an All-American Tar Heel, was too good to say hello to young Wall.
“I go on the visit,” Wall said. “Ty Lawson and them are there. Tyler Hansbrough got his own section — him and his homeboys. I’m the recruit, I walk up and say ‘what up.’ He said ‘I don’t talk to recruits.’ I was like ‘**** you, I ain’t coming here.’ That ****** it up right there.”
A reminder that Kentucky leads the SEC in 3-point shooting percentage
Just in case Hansbrough needs some numbers for his next argument against Kentucky’s lack of shooters.
