Tyler Herro on track to return for NBA Finals
So you’re telling me there’s a chance? Once thought to be finished for the season, Tyler Herro is on track to return to the hardwood in time to help the Miami Heat win a championship.
In the opening game of the first round of the NBA Playoffs, the former Kentucky Wildcat dove for a loose ball against the Milwaukee Bucks and broke multiple bones in his shooting hand. Tyler Herro underwent surgery April 16 and was expected to miss 4-6 weeks, likely ending his season.
Then the Heat kept on winning and winning and winning. Miami is currently up 3-0 entering game four at home. No matter when they close out the Boston Celtics, the NBA Finals begin June 1, almost six weeks to the day after his surgery.
Today Erik Spoelstra shared more good news about his talented young shooting guard. Reports surfaced this afternoon that Herro is able to return to non-contact work on the basketball court. Miami’s head coach confirmed Tyler Herro is slowly but surely working his way back into action.

“He is starting the process,” Spoelstra said. “So there’s no timetable. But he does have the brace off, and he’s able to do some ball-handling and shooting.”
Stan Van Gundy believes the Heat need Tyler Herro to return for the NBA Finals. It’s not because of his outside shooting ability either.
Prior to suffering the injury, Herro averaged 20.1 points per game by shooting just shy of 44% from the floor. When he wasn’t playing basketball, he was dabbling into the world of Hollywood with a little acting. In the final scene of the new “White Men Can’t Jump,” Tyler Herro joined his buddy Jack Harlow to provide a little comic relief. The reviews ofd the Hulu film have not been great, but I enjoyed it quite a bit.
