Tyler Herro's Clutch Basket Seals Victory for Adebayo-less Heat
Tyler Herro is becoming one of the most clutch players in the entire NBA.
With 33 seconds remaining in Monday night’s Heat-Timberwolves matchup, Herro made a turnaround three-point jumper (later changed to a two after review) from the corner as the shot clock expired to extend Miami’s three-point lead to five and eventually seal their victory.
Herro has had no shortage of clutch shots this season, including game-winners over the Sacramento Kings on November 2 and Oklahoma City Thunder on December 14.
In 26 games played this season, Herro is averaging career-highs in PPG (21.1), APG (4.4), and RPG (5.9). He is currently 18th in the NBA in three-pointers made (86) and tenth in 3PT% (39.3%). Herro is certainly living up to the four-year, $130 million extension he received from the Miami Heat back in early October.
“The Bucket” is no stranger to big moments, as he produced many in Kentucky blue and white. Some of the most memorable were cold-blooded three-point daggers on the road against Auburn, Florida, and Mississippi State and a go-ahead three-pointer in the 2019 Sweet 16 against Houston.

Speaking of that 2019 team, two of Herro’s former teammates from that roster had nice games Monday night as well.
Other BBNBA Notes:
- Keldon Johnson was second on the team in scoring with 21 points in San Antonio’s victory over the Utah Jazz Monday night. Keldon stuffed the stat sheet, finishing with three rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Through 29 games played this season, Johnson is averaging a career-high 20.9 PPG. Jarred Vanderbilt had somewhat of a quiet night, totaling only seven points and five boards.
- Keldon and Herro’s former teammate P.J. Washington had a solid performance Monday night as well, finishing with 22 points on 9/13 shooting in Charlotte’s 113-124 loss to Portland. The Hornets have become one of the most dreadful teams in the NBA as Michael Jordan refuses to blow it up in the Queen City. P.J. is in his contract year and may be looking for a new home at the conclusion of this season. Washington currently holds the worst +/- in the entire league at -268 on the season.
- Although he finished with 16 points in the Clippers’ 142-131 overtime victory over the Detroit Pistons, John Wall was a dreadful -26 on the night. The former #1 pick finished with five assists and five rebounds as well. Wall is averaging career lows in PPG (12.0), APG (5.4), and RPG (2.7) through 27 games this season. Hamidou Diallo logged 12 points in 16 minutes of action for Detroit.
