Tyler Steen, Vanderbilt Offensive Tackle Transfer, Schedules Visit to Kentucky
One of the most sought after offensive line prospects in the transfer portal is planning a trip to Lexington. Kentucky Sports Radio has learned former Vanderbilt starter Tyler Steen is expected to visit UK’s campus when spring practice resumes Monday, March 21. Mark Stoops’ team is currently enjoying some time off during the university’s spring break.
A 6-foot-5, 315-pound athlete from Ft. Lauderdale, Steen has made 33 starts over the last three years for the Commodores. He started in every game of his sophomore season at right tackle, then switched to left for his junior and senior campaigns. In 2021 he started in all 12 games for Vanderbilt at left tackle and was a fourth team All-SEC selection by Athlon Sports.
Kentucky has plugged plenty of holes in the roster from the transfer portal. The glaring one at offensive tackle is arguably the most difficult to fill. Steen could be the solution for the Big Blue Wall, but there is tough competition for Steen’s services.
Alabama, LSU Among Suitors for Steen
Anybody who is anyone that needs an offensive tackle is actively recruiting Steen. Last week Brian Kelly hosted Steen and his family for an official visit at LSU. After visiting Kentucky to start the week, Steen will travel to Tuscaloosa to visit former UK offensive line coach Eric Wolford at Alabama.

Tennessee, UCLA, Penn State, NC State and Virginia are also in the mix for Steen’s services. His younger brother, Blake Steen, signed to play with Virginia this spring.
An athletic offensive linemen with SEC experience on both sides of the offensive line, he’s exactly what Kentucky needs to shore up the thin offensive tackle position. Kentucky can sell the Big Blue Wall, but is it enough to beat out Bama and LSU? Next week’s visit is critical. The Wildcats have an opportunity to potentially lock up an impact player before the Crimson Tide can convince him otherwise.
