Tyrell Ajian receives rookie minicamp invite from Pittsburgh Steelers
Kentucky super senior safety Tyrell Ajian was not picked in the 2023 NFL Draft. However, the Ohio native has received an opportunity to start a career in pro football.
On Monday, the Pittsburgh Steelers invited the class of 2018 signee to their rookie minicamp which will begin on Friday, May 12.
In general manager Omar Khan’s first draft in Pittsburgh, the AFC North franchise traded up to take Georgia left tackle Broderick Jones in the first round before taking Penn State cornerback Joey Porter Jr. off the board in the first pick of the second round. Pittsburgh had another top-50 pick in the second round and addressed the defensive line adding Keeanu Benton. The storied franchise owned four more picks but did not select a safety.
In the undrafted free agent market, the Steelers still did not sign any safeties. Ajian received a minicamp invite where he will get to work with the Steelers coaching staff in an attempt to earn an invite to training camp.

The defensive back played in 61 games for Kentucky over his six years in Lexington earning 35 starting assignments. The veteran finished his collegiate career with 152 tackles, 12 pass breakups, four interceptions, three forced fumbles, and 1.5 tackles for loss.
Tyrell Ajian will be looking to carve out a potential future with Pittsburgh beginning this weekend.
