Add another award to the trophy shelf of the one and only, Tyrese Maxey. The 2023-24 winner of the NBA’s Most Improved Player award has erupted on the basketball court for the Philadelphia 76ers as of late and yet has also demonstrated brilliance off the court as well.

The NBA awarded Maxey the NBA Cares Bob Lanier Community Assist Award for this offseason. This is the second time Maxey has won the award, having done so previously in 2022. This makes him only the third player in 76er franchise history to win the award more than once.

Maxey earned the honor from his tremendous generosity to the children in Philadelphia and his home state of Texas. This summer, he conducted a free basketball camp for kids between the ages of 7-12 in Philly and the very next weekend held a similar camp in Dallas that also featured a golf clinic.

Oh, and he also committed to donate $1 million to Phildalephia-based youth programs.

“It’s such an honor to receive the NBA Cares Community Assist Award for the offseason. I’m grateful to even be in a position to make a difference in the lives of Philadelphia- and Dallas-area youth,” Maxey said. “I believe in the power of education and sports to transform lives and am committed to supporting our youth as they pursue their dreams. Thank you to the NBA for this recognition, and to everyone who has supported the Tyrese Maxey Foundation along the way.”

In addition to a trophy, the NBA will donate $10,000 to the Tyrese Maxey Foundation. That’s when you know you’ve made it when you have your own foundation.

The 76ers will honor the former Kentucky guard with a presentation of the Community Assist award on the team’s opening night on October 23.
