Tyrese Maxey Throws out First Pitch in Philadelphia
The Philadelphia Inquirer
The soon-to-be second-year point guard Tyrese Maxey is starting to become a fixture in the Philadelphia sports community.
Last night the former ‘Cat threw out the first pitch ahead of the Phillies’ regular-season matchup against their division rivals in the Atlanta Braves. Naturally, Maxey dropped in a looping strike.

But it didn’t come without a little fear of becoming the next 50 Cent beforehand.

It appears Maxey’s strike was the only positive for the Phillies last night though, the fightin’ Phils would go on to lose 15-3 to the Braves.
Maxey is quickly becoming a fan-favorite in the harsh sports town of Philadelphia. Last year the rookie averaged eight points per game on 46-percent shooting, 30-percent from three on 15 minutes a game. His star shined brightest in the playoffs when he would take over for Ben Simmons, typically in crunch time. Now, ahead of his second season and amid rampant Ben Simmons’ trade rumors Maxey might be one of the faces of the Sixers in years to come.
Throwing a strike at the Phillies a game is a good start.
