TyTy Washington "day-to-day" with lower leg injury
Thankfully, TyTy Washington‘s injury isn’t as bad as it seemed. After the game, John Calipari said Washington has a left lower leg injury and is considered day-to-day.
“It’s his left lower leg. I went in to see him and said, ‘Are you alright?’ I said, ‘Don’t tell me you’re like Jacob [Toppin] and going to be carried out on a stretcher.’ He laughed. Whether he’ll be able to play, it’ll be day-to-day but it’s his lower leg.”
When asked for more details, Calipari said TyTy had an X-ray after the game, which provided some relief.
“There was an X-ray, so if it looked like there was something there, I’d be like, wow. Now, he still may be out a week or two, who knows. Could be a muscle, it could be something that separated, because he got hit hard.”

Washington suffered the injury at the 12:50 mark of the second half. He was scooping up a loose ball when Florida’s Brandon McKissic dove after it, hitting him in the knee area.
Washington rolled to the court and quickly lept up and sprinted to tunnel to the locker room on one leg in obvious pain. According to KSR’s Wynn McDonald, he collapsed at the door to the tunnel and had to be helped the rest of the way. A few minutes later, Kentucky Basketball’s SID Deb Moore told the ESPN broadcast crew Washington was being evaluated for a lower leg injury and would not return to the game.
Davion Mintz also gave an encouraging update during his postgame chat with Mike Pratt.
“First of all, prayers to TyTy. I think he should be alright.”
Phew. Get well soon, TyTy.
