Kentucky has extended an offer to UConn wide receiver transfer Brock Montgomery, he tells KSR+. Montgomery has four years of eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound wideout told KSR+ that Kentucky associate head coach Vince Marrow was the one to extend the offer.

“He was just telling me that he really loves my film, that I’m really explosive, and he needs guys up there like that, so he gave me a full-ride scholarship to the University of Kentucky.

Montgomery said that Kentucky is trying to get him on a visit. He expects a date to be locked in soon.

“I’m thinking [the visit will be] this week, sometime this week,” Montgomery said.

Intrigued by Kentucky’s History

Brock Montgomery has a history with several Kentucky players. He used to train with former Kentucky wide receiver Barion Brown, who recently entered the portal. Montgomery also played seven-on-seven with current Kentucky quarterback Cutter Boley.

“He’s a great quarterback,” Montgomery said of Boley.

Montgomery also mentioned Kentucky’s history with quarterbacks, including Will Levis. He called it, “a winning program that hates to lose.”

“We can definitely win some more games this next season with all the recruits we’re going to get,” Montgomery said.

Montgomery said he’s watched a lot of games at Kentucky. He even visited Kentucky when he was a senior in high school.

“I feel like I’d fit really good with their pass-run offense and their pro-style,” he said. “They have a deadly run game and a deadly pass game. They get the defense on their heels. I’d fit in really well there.”

His Wider Recruitment

Kentucky is the first school to offer Brock Montgomery since he entered the transfer portal on Monday. He’s looking to make it a quick recruitment.

“It’s been fun, but also stressful,” Montgomery said. “I’m thinking [about committing] next week or the week after that. I’m trying to make a decision as quickly as I can.”

When it comes to making a decision, Montgomery wants a place that feels like home and a brotherhood. He said it helps that Kentucky is only three hours away from his home in Tennessee.

“I want to bond with the coaches, learn more from them, learn how to improve my game, and help the team win,” he said.

Brock Montgomery’s Game

UConn transfer wide receiver Brock Montgomery was the No. 243 wide receiver and the No. 1,792 overall prospect in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking. On3 rated him as the No. 308 wide receiver in the class.

During his lone season at UConn, Montgomery appeared in four games while preserving his redshirt. He didn’t record a reception.

“I’m really strong and physical,” Montgomery said. ‘I’m really fast and can go up and get the ball. I have a really good IQ on the field.”

Montgomery is looking to improve his route running, technique, and releases off the line. He believes the Kentucky staff can help him get those areas of his game ready for the professional level.

“Just get ready,” Montgomery said. “It’s going to be a fun season. We’re going to do everything we can to win as many games as possible and bring home the chip.”
