UK Athletics, WLEX will host tornado relief telethon on Tuesday

Kentucky Men’s Basketball head coach John Calipari told us on Saturday that a tornado relief telethon was coming this Tuesday, and now we have the ironed-out details.

UK Athletics and WLEX-TV announced on Monday that the two organizations will host a joint telethon called “Kentucky United for Tornado Relief”. The event will run on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. EST with the proceeds going to the American Red Cross. The cause will help the communities of Western Kentucky decimated by record-breaking tornados that struck Friday night and into Saturday morning.

According to UK’s press release, members of WLEX will host the telethon out of the Kroger Field Recruiting Room starting at 4 p.m. Then from 7 to 8 pm. the telethon will be broadcast in its entirety live on WLEX. Various Kentucky coaches and student-athletes are expected to participate throughout the evening, as well.
