UK Basketball student ticket prices going up for the first time since 1990s
For the first time since the 1990s, UK is increasing student ticket prices for basketball games.
This morning, UK announced a $5 increase in tickets for all seating locations at Rupp, including the student sections. Students will now pay $10 per game, up from $5. While ticket prices are going up across the board, K Fund donations remain unchanged, so there’s that.
“We are excited for another memorable season with the Big Blue Nation in Rupp Arena and thank our fans for their incredible support,” Deputy Athletics Director DeWayne Peevy said. “Kentucky men’s basketball is one of the truly unique traditions in sports. While the demand for season tickets continues to outpace our inventory, we are committed to keeping prices in line with our peers in college basketball.”

Season ticket holders who renew their tickets by August 4 will receive two free tickets to a football home game this fall, as well as extra K Fund points. Additionally, fans interested in purchasing new season tickets may register for the annual men’s basketball ticket lottery. After renewals are complete, a limited number of 200-level seats are available through the lottery system each year. For more information on that, head on over to UKathletics.com/tickets.
Students will probably grumble over the price increase, but $10 to see the best team in college basketball play is still the deal of a lifetime. Besides, given how student attendance has decreased dramatically over the past few seasons, that grumbling may fall on deaf ears. With plans in place to put in luxury suites at Rupp as well as chair backs in the upper level, some seats will have to go away; if student attendance continues to dwindle…well, you can put two and two together.
