In case you missed it late last night,
the UK cheerleading team won its 21st National Championship, an incredible and well-deserved honor. As John Calipari tweeted last night, the university's cheerleaders really are the gold standard in their sport. Here's part of their championship routine:

Congrats, guys. Drew's on vacation this week, so Nick and I are running the ship for you until he returns from the sunny shores of Florida. Here's what we have to look forward to on this very, very cold Martin Luther King, Jr. Day...
John Calipari will be on the SEC Coaches Teleconference this morning
Cal is scheduled to address the media on the SEC Coaches Teleconference today around 10:53 a.m. Saturday's loss to Auburn showed off the worst of this Kentucky team, prompting Calipari to vow that "changes will be made" afterwards. Will we hear about any of those changes or will a reporter just ask Calipari about one of his players in the pros? Check the site a little later to find out.
How far will the Cats fall in the polls?
Saturday's loss was bad. Kentucky is currently ranked 14th in the AP poll and 13th in the Coaches' Poll. How far will they fall today? Unfortunately, something tells me the media may leap on the excuse to drop the Cats out of the poll for the first time since March 2014. (Do you really blame them?) However, college basketball is whack this season, so who knows.
Bam Adebayo will play on ESPNU at 5 p.m.
Still depressed about Kentucky's lack of a post presence? Soothe your worries by looking ahead to next year. At 5 p.m. Bam Adebayo and High Point Christian Academy will play Chino Hills High School in the Hoophall Classic on ESPNU. Calipari was in Springfield, Massachusetts yesterday to watch his son, Brad, put up 17 points (including five threes) against Wenyen Gabriel's Wilbraham and Monson Academy. Gabriel also showed out in front of Cal, putting up 18 points, 13 rebounds and eight blocks.
Adebayo's got a reputation for breaking rims, and hopefully he can boost some spirits in the Big Blue Nation tonight.
Speaking of Bam...
Bam, Fox, Killeya-Jones, and Monk named to the McDonald's All-American Game
In case you missed it in the post directly under this one, Bam Adebayo, De'Aaron Fox, Sacha Killeya-Jones, and Malik Monk were named to the McDonald's All-American Game late last night. (Because he's a fifth-year senior, Wenyen Gabriel was not eligible.) The game is scheduled for
March 30 at 9 p.m. ET at the United Center in Chicago. It will be televised on ESPN, and I know we'll all be watching.
Looking for a new series to binge? Try "Mozart in the Jungle"
From time to time, I'm reminded that we're truly living in the golden age of television. After Kentucky's awful loss to Auburn on Saturday, I did my best to stay away from UK basketball for the day, and I need to thank Amazon for providing me with a wonderful distraction. When I saw that
Amazon's original series "Mozart in the Jungle" won two Golden Globes last Sunday, my interest was piqued, so I checked out an episode and immediately was hooked. The scripted comedy series goes behind the scenes of the New York Symphony and, in a time of TV comedies trying too hard, is truly entertaining. It's probably not for everyone, but if you're looking for a new series to binge (as this blogger always is), give it a shot. It got me through an otherwise depressing weekend.
I'm going to see Madonna tonight
Growing up with a sister six years older than me, I learned to worship at the altar of the Material Girl. Madonna performs at Bridgestone Arena tonight, and my sister and cousins are coming down for the occasion. (Shoutout to Nick for taking over a little earlier today -- much appreciated!) Madonna performed in Louisville Saturday night...anyone go? Got some reviews? I hear she went on super late, so I'll be loading up on the caffeine.
College basketball on TV tonight
- 7 p.m.: Syracuse at #9 Duke, ESPN
- 7 p.m.: #24 Purdue at Rutgers, BTN
- 9 p.m.: #2 Oklahoma at #17 Iowa State, ESPN
The Ryan Lemond and Alan Cutler Show returns
Matt's taking a few days off this week, so Ryan and his former colleague Alan Cutler will man the mics from 10-12 to entertain you. Cutler got a lot of great reviews when he guest hosted a few weeks back, so tune in to hear his encore.
