UK Fans of the Day want Pregame Notes
Greetings from Indianapolis, where Michigan beat Colorado State, Tennessee pummeled Longwood, and we’ve still got an hour and a half or so until Kentucky takes the floor. Let’s pass the time with some pregame notes, shall we?
Blue is getting in
I’ll admit, I was a little worried by the small number of fans at yesterday’s open practice; slowly but surely, the Big Blue Nation made its way north. As the day went on, more and more blue trickled into Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Drew shared some pictures of the early birds with you; here are a few more from Dr. Mike, who is making the rounds.
In case you missed the first game, No. 11 seed Michigan beat No. 6 seed Colorado State 75-63 in the South Region. Jalen Rose was in the house to support the Wolverines and his fellow Fab Fiver Juwan Howard.
Anonymous coaches on Kentucky’s championship potential
ESPN’s Jeff Borzello asked college basketball coaches and NBA scouts to share their thoughts anonymously on Kentucky and Duke’s national championship potential. Of the 25 people polled, only one picked the Cats to win it all. Here are a few of their comments.

“From an offensive standpoint, they’re as good as Grady is. If Grady is out there and he’s a threat from the 3-point line, it completely changes how you gotta guard Kentucky,” one coach said. “If he’s struggling, you can be more compact defensively.”
“I think TyTy is their most important player,” another assistant coach said. “He’s the one guy who’s not a specialist. Grady is a specialist from 3, [Sahvir] Wheeler is a specialist as a high-assist guy, Tshiebwe is a specialist rebounder and post scorer. TyTy can score at all three levels, he can defend, he can distribute. If his shot isn’t falling, he can still have an effect on the game in a variety of ways.”

Speaking of TyTy…
TyTy’s mom made it to Kentucky’s shootaround
As we learned in Kyle Tucker’s feature yesterday, TyTy Washington‘s mother hasn’t been able to watch him play in person since Kentucky’s 28-point win over Tennessee on January 15 due to health issues. Thankfully, Mama Washington made it to Indianapolis for tonight’s game and stopped at Kentucky’s shootaround to give her son a hug.
I hope TyTy drops 50 tonight.
