A Kentucky Wildcat made school history Wednesday night at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Jordan Turner, a freshman long jumper from Kingston, Jamaica, debuted at the NCAA Championships with a wind-legal, school-record jump of 26’8.25”/8.13 meters. Turner’s leap, his second attempt, earned him the bronze medal in the men’s long jump in addition to six team points for Kentucky. The bronze is Turner’s first collegiate medal.

Turner took UK’s record from Tim Duckworth at 26’4.25”/8.03 meters in 2018.

Another Wildcat long jumper, Robbie Springfield, also set a new personal best with a leap of 24’8.25”/7.60 meters, the eighth-best mark in school history.

Unfortunately, Wednesday night marked the end of the road for UK’s men at the outdoor championships.
